Banking jobs

Ensure optimum returns on FD portfolio. Ensure timely payments to investors. Ensure completion of compliance requirements of rating agencies. Will be responsible for servicing the monthly payouts to investors for the bilateral assignment of receivables. Work with Programme Managers, Architects and Analysts to define development projects, migration strategies and resourced development plans, prioritised in conjunction with business. Maintain development plans for the respective applications, ensuring that development estimates are provided, status updates issued and resources provided to the various projects and programmes. Work with management to manage resource contention and prioritise and schedule work.

Ensure the evolution of the team, and consider team’s training needs to ensure that a clear plan exists to maintain and enhance skills across all roles. Appropriate resources are supplied to meet delivery plan demand. Ensure development process is being followed, and quality is delivered. 
Set technical strategy for applications within the control of the captive location in agreement with Architecture Office, including development processes, standards, controls, selecting and evaluating 3rd party systems, frameworks and new technologies. Ensure strategy is up to date with the latest developments in the IT industry. Work with other Centres for planning / strategy of CTB book of work. Drive efficiency and cost targets through to development partner(s), and ensure appropriate input to budget process to cover cost of delivery through the captive development organisation.

Jobs to grow your bank account

You may not have thought it possible to lose money that you have in a transactional or savings account, but technically this is the case. Its all down to the rate of inflation verses the interest rate paid on your account. If the rate paid on your savings falls below that of inflation, your money will lose value, as inflation determines the cost of goods and services, and if these increase but your money stays the same then your savings will slowly erode. It is important to be aware of recent interest rate trends as if rates are following a pattern on the rise then you will be fixed to the rate agreed, so would not be able to benefit from higher rates that new customers would be exposed to. This can also work the other way, as if you lock in on a rate and shortly after rates begin to fall, you will not be affected and you will continue to earn the rate agreed until the account reaches its end date.

By having your salary paid into an account paying high rates you can begin earning interest as soon as your money is in your possession. You can then manage your money by transferring it to your transactional account as and when required. This may not be suitable for everyone, and requires you to be aware of all your outgoings to ensure you do not incur charges for late payments or attempting to pay a bill from an account that is empty so you need to be organised and stay on-top of your accounts. People tend to do a better job of saving when they have a goal or a target in mind, such as a holiday that you can look forward to and appreciate knowing that the set target has been reached. Your daily state of mind is effected when you go into saving mode, as you become more aware of your spending and take more control of your spending habits.

There is a Diagnostic and Investigation Unit which allows some investigations and management for adults and older people for example: endocrine tests, venesection for haemochromatosis and polycythaemia, oxygen trials, blood transfusions, bone marrow aspirations, biopsy, initial commencement of Warfarin and INR monitoring before transferring to GPs, palmidronate infusion, drug trials such as commencement of beta-blockers and ACE inhibitors in heart failure etc. There is a joint Medical Admissions Unit where acute general medicine and elderly patients with the exception of those with suspected or confirmed acute myocardial infarctions (who are admitted to the Coronary Care Unit) and possible infectious cases are assessed before being transferred to Medical and Elderly Wards. There is a Discharge Lounge which allows for patients that are discharged but waiting for their medications to vacate their beds so that these could be used for patients transferred from the Medical Admissions Unit and Accident and Emergency. The Discharge Lounge has resulted in the improvement of the 4 hour wait in Accident and Emergency Unit. The acute take for General Medicine and Care for Older People is fully integrated. You will be expected to participate in the acute medical take both general medical and geriatric acute take at middle grade level.

These will be essentially those of a post-membership Registrar reporting directly to his/her Consultant and would include. The day to day care and management of patients on the ward and in outpatients. Ward work, as required. Advice to other staff, and audit work as required. Flexible use of time depending on the needs of the department. Training and education of nursing staff and junior medical staff.

From my experience of working with small businesses, when it comes to interviewing potential employees, many of the same issues come up. You may be familiar with these: On the whole, you don’t really find interviewing potential employees a comfortable experience. You have no method or approach to interviews. You’re often not confident about them and would rather not have to do them. You don’t always know what you should be asking (or what you should not be asking). You have never really received any training on how to interview and you tend to just fumble your way through by asking questions you have always asked, but not really knowing how effective they are.

Even when you’ve got through the interview, you’re not always sure that you’ve found the right person. You tend to follow your ‘gut’ instinct and your intuition with people which has usually worked well in the past. But you understand that you can’t just go with your instinct and also are concerned about this approach, given the ever-increasing amount of employment laws and political correctness. Successful business model

There is a growing interest in a new kind of business that is now being referred to as a "social business" or "social enterprise" (I am going to use the former terminology.) I'd like to explain and unpackage this idea a bit and contrast different definitions/perspectives. The key difference between a social business and a traditional business is that a social business explicitly sets expectations with investors (usually in its bylaws) that it will simultaneously pursue two objectives -- (1) specific positive social impacts/"returns"; and (2) financial returns. Generally, social businesses "warn" investors that the financial returns may be negatively impacted by the social objectives and therefore they seek investors who understand and support these dual objectives when they make their investment. By definition a business must be ultimately self-sustaining ... that is, generate a profit/surplus which can allow the organization to continue without indefinite infusions of investor capital. I say "ultimately" because many businesses have periods of operating losses as they startup or pursue periods of forward investing with the goal of being more sustainable long-term. So far so good. Then the definitions of social businesses by different people start to diverge.

Non-Profits and Earned Income. There are a few people which consider non-profit organizations which have income generating activities to qualify as social businesses, but most agree that while these may be good activities they are not in themselves social businesses as they continue to rely on donor income to be sustained. I think it is increasingly important for the viability of most non-profits to have a diversity of income sources which include earned income.Self-Sustaining Non-Profits. There are a number of institutions which have explicit missions to "do good" and have sufficient resources/income to be self-sustaining. These include private foundations, endowments (e.g. universities) and, more recently, operating businesses organized in a trust-type format. An example of the latter are a number of successful microfinance banks which generate profits, often are subject to tax, but are run by trustees (as there are no shareholders) who by law cannot have a personal benefit from the organization. Generally, the foundations and endowments are not considered social businesses even though some of them do have some operational components. For true operating businesses run inside non-share capital structures, these are increasingly viewed as social businesses even though they may face future limitations due to their inability to accept investor equity capital.

Investor expectations do matter. If you select investors who are incompatible with your objectives (e.g. they don't value your social impacts), you're going to have a challenge keeping focused on your social objectives. But, this is true for any business ... you need to find the right investors and set expectations very clearly. Investors take a portfolio approach. Almost all investors seek to have some diversity in their investment portfolio in order to mitigate risk. If I want to be a social business investor, I'm going to want to invest in multiple social businesses realizing that returns/results will vary.

So, if I invest in 10 social businesses and 5 fail (no return, not unusual), 3 have modest returns and 2 have strong returns, I have less risk. I also potentially receive my capital back plus a return (both financial and social.) This means that the successful social businesses are overcompensating me in return (financial and social) and the unsuccessful social businesses are undercompensating me. If I agreed to only received my invested capital back with no financial upside, then I would be losing 50% of my invested capital in this scenario and this should be structured a charitable donation. Social entrepreneurs may serially fail. As noted above, it is not uncommon for 50% of businesses (any type of business) to fail. Let's say we have a very eager social entrepreneurs who starts 5 social business which fail and it's only her 6th social business which succeeds. Let's say that she creates huge personal indebtedness in starting the all of these businesses. Why shouldn't she be able to have a reasonable financial return on the 6th business in order to compensate her for the risk and expense she took in developing all of these businesses? Aren't we going to dissuade social entrepreneurs from the necessary risk-taking if they have no financial upside from their personal investment?

The City of Santa Barbara passed a Living Wage Ordinance which applies to all workers whose work is contracted to the City in contracts over $15,000 a year. After striving for 6 years with City government and being turned down once, the second time has been charm for the coalition, Santa Barbara for a Living Wage. The coaltion partners include PUEBLO (People United for Economic justice Building Leadership through Organizing), CLUE (Clergy and Laity United for Economic justice), La Casa de la Raza, Democratic Central Committee, El Congreso, SBCAN (Santa Barbara Community Action Network), SEIU locals 535 and 620, SB Women's Political Committee, and 17 other organizations. There has been a steering committee of about 12 people for the past year and a half who have met with many people associated in some way with Living Wages and it's implementation. The original Coaltion for a Living Wage which began about 6 years ago includes some of those same people.

So this has been a victory long in the making and Santa Barbara for a Living Wage is to be congratulated for its persistence and enthusiasm. 
The ordinance begins with a number of “whereas's”: WHEREAS, minimum wage laws benefit employers and the local economy as a whole by improving employee performance, reducing employee turnover, lowering work absenteeism, and thereby improving productivity and the quality of the services provided by employees; and WHEREAS, improving the productivity and performance of employees working on City contracts directly benefits the public;and WHEREAS, local minimum wage laws for government contracts also assure workers the means and leisure to participate in civic life and pursue educational and cultural opportunities and thereby strengthen the fabric of our community; and many others.

The ordinance applies to companies who do at least $15,000 yearly business with the City, but not non-profit service providers or grantees, nor recreation providers. It also does not apply to City workers because they are already covered by the Service Employees International Union. There is a proposed incentives program which would apply to City Block Grantees, but will be implemented a little later. The required wage would depend on the level of benefits being provided by the employer. Level 1 is $14/hour wage. 

However, if they pay for a health plan and 12 days off per year, they can pay $12/hour. More benefits and better health coverage and they can pay $11/hour. The affected companies would include about 180 contractors now subcontracted to the City. Many of them already pay the requested Living Wage, and it is not clear how much more in “pass thru” costs the City will be paying, if at all, for these contracts. Some cities with such ordinances do not have any “pass thru” costs from companies to the city government. The belief of the City Finance committee is that it will not be excessive. With the high cost of living , (one of the highest in the country) many workers feel delighted to have this new opportunity to receive a Living Wage so they don't have to be on government subsidies while working full time.

A new survey has shown that about three-quarters of all business travelers enjoy spending time away from home for business purposes. The research findings of the 11th Barclaycard Business Travel Survey also reveal that 15% of employees stay away from home for work for between five and ten days a month. Another 44% of respondents said they are travelling on business significantly in 2007 more than they did in 2006. Out of those who said they enjoy business travel, over half cited their reasons as being able to see the world and being able to have a more diverse working life – with 15% saying that they have purposefully planned business trips just so they can travel to a particular destination. According to Denise Leleux, director of commercial cards for Barclaycard Business, traveling for business can be an exciting part of any job; it adds variety and offers opportunities to see new places and experience different working cultures.

Earlier in April 2007, Barclaycard Business revealed other survey findings suggesting that 96% of business travelers feel safe when on a flight, despite an increase in terrorist threats. The survey found that one in seven employees spends between five and 10 nights away from home every month, but almost three-quarters of them are keen on the trip, combining work with pleasure.
